In honor of a former Sertoma member with a background in education, the Sy Gau Scholarship fund was established many years ago. The intent is to challenge young adults to use their education for Service to Mankind. The fund encourages these students to understand that success goes beyond material wealth and status. The scholarships will only be granted to undergraduate full time students and high school seniors who are relatives of a current Sertoma member in good standing. Also eligible are Sertoma Club members, Collegiate Sertoma Club members, and Serteen Club members in good standing. Scholarship money will be deposited in the student’s school account to be used for eligible expenses starting with the fall term immediately following the announcement of winners on May 1st. Additional information about Sy Gau and this scholarship can be found at: http://www.greatplainssertoma.org/overview/sy-gau-overview

Attached is the current list of our programs in pdf format. Make sure to note when you are scheduled as a greeter and to give the pledge and prayer. And watch this site for updated program information. Just a reminder . . . our morning meetings are now scheduled for the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month unless a social or other Sertoma event takes the place of a morning meeting.
What better way to spend an evening with good Sertoma friends than at a wine tasting event at Deer Springs Winery. Our Membership Committee put together a great event on September 10 complete with wine (of course!) appetizers, a scavenger hunt, and door prizes. Apparently the scavenger hunt was of the rousing variety and required a lot of creativity on everyone’s part. Reports indicate our members are VERY creative and that fun was had by all. Thanks to everyone involved and especially to Carol Nau for the great table decorations and to Carol and Kate Anderson for providing the door prizes. Rumor has it the event ended just in time for everyone to get home before the rains came. Good job, Membership Committee.
Article taken from Lincoln Journal/Star 9/7/2013 . . . “Vicki Highstreet, a charter member and past-president of both the 25-year-old University Sertoma Club and the Nebraska CI (Cochlear Implant) Club in Lincoln, has been named Sertoma’s Great Plains Regional director. She has also served as Sertoma’s East Nebraska Governor, which provided oversight for Nebraska clubs in Lincoln, Omaha, Columbus and Schuyler. She serves on the Sertoma, Inc. Board of Directors, representing Nebraska, Iowa, Minnesota, and the Dakotas.
She has been a presenter/trainer at all levels within the organization, and she has been the education coordinator at the local, district and regional levels. Having a professional degree in education created a natural progression toward training within Sertoma. She is a certified trainer for Sertoma, Inc., serving on the Certified Trainers Advisory Board, which helped develop the Sertoma Leadership Conference as a component of the International Convention. . . “
